DEFINITION
The Anterior Segment of the eye includes the eyelids, conjunctiva, cornea, all structures of the anterior chamber, and the lens.
The Anterior Segment Unit operates at the Britannico Hospital under the Italian National Health Service (SSN). It is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment, both medical and surgical, of infectious, inflammatory, and degenerative diseases affecting the ocular surface, cornea, and lens.

- Cataracts
- Keratoconus
- Corneal Dystrophies
- Corneal Diseases Requiring Transplants
- Refractive Errors: Myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism
- Orbital and Eyelid Disorders

Clinical Activities
Under the coordination of Dr. Domenico Schiano Lomoriello, the unit provides clinical and surgical care at the inpatient and treatment unit of the Britannico Hospital.
